Kosovo’s business link with the rest of Europe

October 2nd marked a big step forward for enterprise
development in Kosovo, as the Euro Info Correspondence Centre
(EICC) opened for business. The EICC in Kosovo joins a
network of more than 300 Euro Info Centres, established by the
European Commission, across 38 countries. It will provide Kosovo’s
businesses with all the information they need about potential
markets in the EU and elsewhere in Europe. It will also advise on EU
legislation and enterprise policy.
€800,000 of EU funds were provided by the European Agency
for Reconstruction to help establish the EICC.
The launch was attended by DSRSG Andy
Bearpark; Hugues Mingarelli; Filip David from the Belgian
Foreign Ministry; and Ismail Kastrati, President of the Kosovo
Chamber of Commerce. “The European Agency for Reconstruction is
very proud to be here to celebrate the inauguration of the Euro Info
Correspondence Centre”, said Hugues Mingarelli at a
reception for business leaders from across Kosovo. “The EICC
will help Kosovo’s enterprises foster links with other businesses
across the continent”. In the first edition of the EICC’s
newsletter, Ejup Qerimi, Director of the EICC, paid tribute
to the EU’s efforts in establishing the Centre: “A lot of credit
belongs to the European Agency for Reconstruction. Without funding
from the European Union, the Euro Info Correspondence Centre could
not have opened its doors in Kosovo.”
